Announcing establishment of the FOXP1 Medical Research Foundation
September 10, 2025
Dear IFF Community,
We hope you are doing well. The International FOXP1 Foundation (IFF) wishes to announce that fellow FOXP1 parent and IFF member Dr. Samit Dasgupta has established a new, independent organization: the FOXP1 Medical Research Foundation (FMRF). The FMRF will focus on advancing medical research efforts to find treatments–and ultimately a cure–for FOXP1 Syndrome. Given this development, Samit has decided to step down from the IFF board; nevertheless, he will continue to support the IFF’s current research initiatives as an advisor and liaison. We are grateful for Samit’s time and support of the IFF.
The IFF intends to continue funding FOXP1 research aligned with the needs of our community, including where appropriate in collaboration with the FMRF. An important continuing research focus will be ongoing community-oriented projects and efforts to detail the natural history of FOXP1 Syndrome, as well as basic science research. Importantly, the IFF will also continue overseeing and supporting all projects currently funded by the IFF.
If you would like to hear from the FMRF regarding their research initiatives, please visit their website at foxp1research.org. In the meantime, please also stay tuned for exciting updates on the IFF-funded research projects currently underway!
Karl and Cheryl, Co-Presidents of the International FOXP1 Foundation
