Fox Friends: Meet Isla

Isla is 9 years old. She was born with an interstitial lung disease that required oxygen until she was 5 years old, when we were finally able to wean her off of it. She was diagnosed with autism and global retardation when she was 3 years old, and then finally the answer to all our questions came when she was 5 years old, the diagnosis of FOXP1.

Isla is doing so well. She has done every therapy under the moon and it has taken her so far. She is in grade 4 in one of our local public schools. She has CEA which helps her on a daily basis. Although she is not at her grade level, she can read, write and do a little math.

This girl is so determined, and although she gets frustrated sometimes, she keeps trying. She loves the water, the park, her little LOL dolls and her Shopkins. This year she also learned to become a skilled downhill skier! She has two brothers, two guinea pigs and a cat.

She is a cuddly, happy girl and I love watching her grow up.
